These were not my fish and the origin sadly was unknown:

The one with the horn my initial guess was either G. gotyla stenorhynchus or G. bourreti or orientalis?

Nay idea but the first fish is an absolute beauty.

The first one could be a mature male Garra fuliginosa, I had one that came in under that name some time ago in poor condition but lost it before I could get a decent photo, saying that Garra notata has the black spots at the base of the dorsal rays.

I did at the time but its going back somewhat and I’ve lost touch on Garra IDs. The first one looks like a more colourful Garra orientalis as depicted in CIOTFFOC books (available on Google image search) though according to something I saw of Kottelat’s at the time more likely to be bourreti).

It also matches the description and image of G. g. stenorhynchus in Ornamental Fishes of the Western Ghats of India.

I’ll have a look at the names you mention Mark.

The second one I’m completely stumped.

I’ve had a look at those suggestions. I think the rostrum is not right for fuliginosa and the spot near the peduncle is not there, and notata seems to have a different rostrum and body pattern too.

The closest match is Garra gotyla stenorhynchus or orientalis/bourreti?

The 2nd one looks like a more chunky G. cyclostomata?

Good grief how did you come up with the latter guess? Do you have the book G. cyclostomata was described in?

Now you know I haven’t got many fish books ;o)

I haven’t got an original but the author (at least I think it was) sent me a copy he made of it and bound it.

The species also appears in Kottelat’s Fishes of Laos and Serov et al’s F F of Central Vietnam, and in the crazy 3 volume work on Vietnamese FF.

Actually the shape of the fish in my photo does match that of the drawing in the OD. Prob cyclostomata then (but probably from Laos rather than Vietnam), if indeed it is a Garra and not a Placogobio or Discogobio or something.
