Hi Guys! I havent been here for a long time and the look has certainly changed! Now can an non geek negotiate? hmmmmm 😎

so the question is this: my Marble horned sailfin pleco, who was gorgeous (not a common one) has been given to a bigger tank. he stopped growing at 11″, which was too much for my 55 gallon tank. I have a smaller, slate grey unknown pleco in the big tank, so I couldnt keep the marble.

Now my 55 has no one eating stuff from the bottom or algae. It houses two beautiful Angelfish and various pretty little tetras. I miss my cucumber eating pal. 😕 What is a pretty, yet no bigger than 5″ pleco that you would recommend? what about other algae eating types such as hillstream loaches or flying foxes?

    Nice to see you all…!

PS. I am down to two Rainbows. As they got old and kicked the bucket, I didnt keep fry , as I got bored finally *sigh* The Congos outgrew the Amazon tank and hey…they  are African anyway and love the space 😀 What are all of you up to these days?

Good to hear from you Reva!!!

Yep we changed the site a bit – what do you think? 🙂

Wouldn’t put any hillstream loaches in your tank as they tend to do better when the set-up is designed around them, but a group of Crossocheilus might do the trick? Check here: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/search/Crossocheilus

I still choose cake over death Matt….anything high tech and not Apple for non geeks is a challenge to me, but so far, so good. Thanks to FB I knew the crash you had was not my fault LOL

As to the pleco…I looked at Crossocheilus (both available kinds) at my LFS, and considered them. They are cute, and do eat black hair algae, but they also read as “territorial when adults” in some profiles. So my daughter and I took a drive off our island to search in a couple of shops run by folks who keep healthy fish and more variety.

I was tempted by some of the more expensive plecs, but ended up bringing home Baryancistrus sp. L47 aka Mango or Orange Stripe Pleco. I hope you think that it’s a good choice????
