Evening all, I’m just doing a bit of opinion/though gathering so if anyone has any thoughts they’d like to share on any or all of the following I’d appreciate it

I’m interested in the concept of working your way up through fishkeeping from ‘beginner fish’ and ‘starter tanks’ to the one you always wanted. I’m not out to criticise anyone so if you started off with cheap fish in case they died I’m interested in honest answers!

If you didn’t start out with the fish/set up you knew you always wanted – why didn’t you?

If you know what fish you’d really like to keep but aren’t keeping them now, why is that?

Did the cost of the fish themselves/the set up sway your decision when you first started?

Have you only found out about your ‘dream fish’ or ‘dream set up’ because you got involved in the hobby and started to learn about things you weren’t aware of before?

Did you think certain species or set ups were only for ‘experienced’ fishkeepers? If so, why did you think this?

Do you think there’s a hierarchy in fishkeeping? If so what’s at the bottom and what’s at the top?

I’m sure there’s a lot more to it than that so do feel free to add in other comments etc. if you like

    Cheers, S
