Thanks for letting me know, i thought they were one of the undescribed ones since i couldnt find them anywhere online. Your right galilee, there are alot of danios and im sure one or two of them may be hybrids of aquarium stock. i was reading up on http://www.danios.info which seems pretty decent (i think) as im a bit behind on current literature but it wasnt there, they did mention that no Danio sp. except D. kerri had verticle bars on its flanks.

    Hey all,

Ive managed to get some pics of the hanging gardens now, i have no idea what on of the plants is, its grown from the moss that was there, theres indian fern and bacopa in the hamocs. i think i need more filling media to bulk out the hamocs, it needs to be absorbant and bulky, i tried moss but it just rots down quickly, and soil wont work, any suggestions.

seems like a pretty bad case, i didnt expect it to come out of the anus like that with such a structure. maybe it was an organ bein pushed out, who knows. its gone now and wasnt in the tank long, hopefully it wont happen again.

SF Team, your welcome to use the pics if you wish

    Nice one Kris.

Just out of curiosity.. is it really one pound per annum for membership?

For Associate members yeah. the aquarist societies have been under pressure not to auction to the general public, so instead of charging entry, from now on we give you a little associate members card allowing you to be part of the club instead of general public so auctioning to you will be alright.

For proper members its £10 per annum and your required to attend at least half of the meetings in the year. theres also some other stuff but thats the main requirements.

Its not that big, just a couple of small sections of prawn netting fashioned into a cradle or something, hopefully it will look alright. il keep you all upto date with what happens.

Aye that might work, the only problem is, with tights, the holes are too small, with the sera thing, the same but i think theyr also white? i can get a hold of shrimp netting either from down the fish quay/dove marine lab cullercoats or on ebay so it shouldnt be too bad. i think if i manage to do it well then it could look like discarded netting in a river or something, weel see though.

Just a quick observation on the hessian before i put moss in it, i noticed that there were babies hiding in the mess so i think i may make a bit where its got no plants in or is without moss so that they can hide. oooo im all excited again now!

I came back yesterday after being in Yorkshire for a party and found that the hessian had fallen apart, i didnt expect it to last too long but thought that it would last alot longer than 2 weeks! im now trying to think of another material to make the mesh, i can only think of either the plastic for oranges or prawn netting. while the hessian bags were in the tank, they looked really good i just wish i had taken a decent photo, il have a look through my photos just in case i did though.

i think i managed to work it out as being over feeding, i may have put a lil too much growth food in, it seems fine now that ive laid off the feeding now.

it seems marginally better today, fish are a bit more active. i think it may be the filter in take, it gets blocked up so easily. the filter itself seems good as i only cleaned it on the last water change. i think it might have been the growth food i was feeding them as im on bloodworm now and as i mentioned before, not so bad. thanks again.

yeah i have, im using a wee magi jet thing to stir it up at the top. they still seem to be breathing quite a bit faster than usual, especially for the low density of fish.

i dont use dechlorinator, i had a tap filter that i plug onto the hose before filling up, does the job i think, i cant smell chlorine from the water anyways. the last time i did a water change in the other tank was about a week and a half ago.

although this isnt a cure to the problem but certainly deals with it for a week or so, you could use a a razorblade to scrape off what sounds like green ‘spot’ algae? its stubborn as you mentioned and seems to get harder and harder to remove? razorblades take care of this nicely (http://www.pets-warehouse.com/Vpasp/shopexd.asp?id=113015) some are sharp though so watch your fingers but more importantly the silicone! (the kent one is blunt but very effective and doesn’t rust- cheap ones tend to be neither these)
