Cheers Kris. He was quite a plain brown colour for the first few days until I introduced them to this tank. The water is filtered through peat, I’ve lowered the pH to around 6ish and chucked in a few Ketapang leaves. He lit up almost as soon as he touched the water

Other possibility is stick your lone peacock goby in there to act as a further distraction.

Ahh dude that doesn’t sound good. Sounds like he’s ready to do the good thing again and she isn’t having any. I think there’s a couple more females in the shop you could try adding one or two more and see if that helps.

Yeah that’s a pic of albimarginata Dunc. My fish is the colour it is in the pic I posted when it starts to get frisky. It’s been quite dull when you’ve seen it from what I remember. We’ll see…

Lol they may still be channoides

Both channoides those mate. Apparently you can tell by the much redder base colouration whereas albimarginata have more of an orange hue.

Right well I’ve had this pic scrutinised by a few experts and it appears this is B. albimarginata, not B. channoides! Not that I mind, they’re still fantastic fish. Just shows you can’t always trust fish ids from even the most reputable exporters….

They’re lovely mate! I’ll swap you for half a dozen danios.

What’s the patterning like Kris? I’ve seen a few new Danio species about lately…

Pics would certainly help. If they are dangila you’re a lucky boy as I’ve never seen ’em up here.

Cheers boys. Kris I watched them spawning for about an hour and a half. Must’ve disturbed them when I came in as when I went back to check on them they were going at it again. The colours on the male during the ritual were equal to any reef fish I’ve seen. Amazing. Will try and get pics tonight.
