Sorry about the fish Matt! Best of luck getting settled. I know what you’re going through, took me 3 months to find a place I could live in and afford when i moved back to the US. Agencies are the WORST!

I’ve gone back & forth myself Matt. has the head of lineatus & the body markings of burmanuca. As always tough to positive ID with pics!

My only relative experience is with the Eheim classic line. I have a 2217 and it is silent! I would highly recommend it. The pro 3 is quite a filter but I don’t trust the computerized controls etc., too complicated and if it fails you’re out of luck. I like the simplicity of the classics.

Thanks Andy. I’m hoping that they don’t grow too much! They were in the fish shop for a year and didn’t grow at all. I don’t know how they feed but they’ll be well spoiled here. They ordered apollo sharks and got these by mistake. I don’t think they’ve sold a one until now!

Beautiful fish! Sorry I can’t help with ID? I’d also like to know their origin.

Thanks Matt, I have that thread from petfrd also. The only conclusion seems to be that there isn’t enough info about sicyopus/sicyopterus/stiphodon etc. Lovely fish and something to look forward to!

Sorry Matt, can’t help you there. I haven’t found much info on them. Hampala you may join the yahoo goby group and post your pics/location and see if any of the taxonomists will reply.

Mine seem to change their degree of red shown, no specific reason that I’ve identified? The dominant one does seem less brilliant since I’ve separated them. It could also be the difference n sex? Could be many things including a different species I suppose? So little info available! I did see a pic from the supplier with a tank full of them and there were varying degrees of color.

I’ve got the same fish and I initially thought s. jonklassi, but I posted a pic at the yahoogobygroup and the reply that i got from Ron(possibly Ron watson) was sicyopus exallisquamulus-see link, page 8 I believe. http://forums.loaches.com/viewtopic.php?t=…6&start=105
Lovely fish! Quite different than I expected. I really like the algae eating gobies, stiphodon&sicyopterus, that I have with them. These are carnivores and are always looking for food! Mine show no interest in dry foods, only bloodworms and brineshrimp and they musty be moving. They also Love small garden worms!! I bought three and had to separate them as the dominant one was starving the 2 others.

I can’t say that they dug the holes Mick. I just sort of put 2 & 2 together there in my own mind, it could have been anyone doing the digging.

    Hello.
Here is a habitat photo ,Note the Blackwater ..But the ph is not very low .
I collected them in Febuary , They blend in really well in the tanned water .

There are many different populations , I got so carried away catching them I didnt take a picture .
I think they were Balteata 1

    Where is this Sojapat?

My 2 sound about like yours Matt. They’re in my 75 botia tank with sand and lots of rocks & wood. They give each other a quick chase off the food but it’s harmless. They never bother anything else.

    Sharing space with the liniparhomaloptera.
