    Has anyone encountered this fish? Is it being bred in the hobby? Here’s a pic of a male by Diane Brown.

    I am sure I saw some photo’s of this fish from a couple of open shows last year, I will try and see if I can find the pics.

    Hi Matt.

    there is a group of german killi lovers that keep it. If I am not wrong also Juan Pablo may still keep a pair, and maybe Pedro Ellauri has a breeding group.

    Looks very much like an A. sophiae to me, it seems only the female has some differences. Ask Juan Pablo…

    Don´t know really… haven´t had any of the two the species myself. Juan Pablo knows for sure.

    Well I wrote to Brian Coad who is an expert on Iranian freshwater fish (he described Aphanius vladykovi in 1988) and he said that he has no information on ecology or water chemistry for this fish. On a more exciting note he told me he has submitted a paper for a new species in southern Iraq and Iran and he thinks there is yet another one with the possible name pluristriatus in Iran.
