Hi, it’s been long time since my previsious post…i hope not to disturb so much opening this topic.

I’m from Italy and we are just now beginning, with the help of associations, to import some Betta species from Thailand, in order to making them spawn and intreoduce f1, f2 and so on in the hobby. At the moment i’ve f1 of Betta unimaculata “Sengata”, Betta unimaculata “Mahakam” and Betta schalleri.

As i regret any form of selections in fishkeeping, i’m wondering if it’s possible (and if “yes” is the correct answer, how to do it) looking for a wild specimens of Betta splendens.
Do you think they still exist?

    Thanks for your answers.
    Greetings from Italy, Marco.

There is effectively any reports on some wild populations of B. splendens.
I think it will be so difficult to find specimens in U.E.
