mikevParticipantCurious: have anyone here kept/keeps them?
I have a group now, and will set up a proper tank in due course… take proper photos too, if they allow me (they are very skittish and react to the photo camera before I can press the button). The only photo in focus for now is this
at least it shows them to be zollingeri’s. (Wetspot’s photo is better….but it took them three months of trying to take it!).
There seems to be one way only to get them out a bit: grindal worms:

I think they do eat prepared food too, but only in the dark.

MattKeymasterYou not in agreement with the placement of this species in Balitoropsis Mike?
Here’s a big one from Terengganu state in northeastern Peninsular Malaysia. VERY nice place with lots of other species including Homaloptera ogilviei, Homalopteroides tweediei, Pangio piperata, P. filinaris, P. semicincta, Acantopsis sp., Acanthopsoides sp., and Nemacheilus selangoricus as well as catfishes, barbs, rasboras, garra, spiny eels, and pipefish.

mikevParticipantFully in agreement, but still learning the new names!
(BTW, the profile entry still says “Homaloptera”).Matt, define “the big one” — curious how large they really get. Nice shot, btw.
I noticed Odyssey’s comment on a photo in the profile about the large eyes/nocturnal lifestyle — yes, feels very much so.

ThomasParticipantHi,
I have kept them 10 years ago or so. Have only a few pics of this very shy loaches, and a video somewhere…
Cheers,
Thomas
Edit:
Found it! But very poor quality…

mikevParticipantThanks for the info!
Nice to know that you have kept a group! Do you remember just what they ate?
(Mine do not react to prepared food or artemia — only grindal worms. ????? )
BTW, the ones I got are exactly the fish I’ve been asking for your ID opinion back in June, based on the horrible photo the supplier gave at the time. I got them after seeing a much better photo from them

cannot say I’m seeing so much yellow in mine… yet?(I will show my photos eventually… no good ones yet).

MattKeymasterI think Homaloptera ogilveiei might also be a micropredator. Where we found these three species together there was no exposed rock at all, and the habitat was surrounded by forest.
