I’m already to set up my 20 litre tank and find the filter is far to powerful for my poor little Betta and there’s no directional or flow control on it.

At the moment my Betta is in a 10 litre with an Hagen mini Elite filter and, as it says on the box, this filter is supposed to be sufficient for up to 20 litres so I was wondering if it would do in the 20 litre tank. I reckon there’ll be about 15 litres max of water in the tank and at this time only the Betta as an occupant, although I may put some Otocinclus in with him later on.

The thing is the original Classica filter is 7 watts and the Elite only 3.1 so do you think it will it be powerful enough until I can get a new filter?

I’ve been trying to get hold of the January issue of PFK in which they did a survey on small filters, but everytime I send them an email it comes back through the mailer demon, strange when I’ve got the link from their site.

I would try the new Fluval U1 filter, its real easy to get at the sponge for cleaning as it has a flip top lid and it is rated at 55l but it has an adjustable flow rate. I have one on a 28 litre tanks at the moment and cant fault it.
