WaterRavenMemberSo, there is ich in my tank. I thought I was alright, I had quarantined my new cichlids and made sure to net them and not mix water from the quarantine tank, however, there it is. It’s on my rummy-nose tetras, whom I have had for a year in great health. I look in yesterday and raised white dots all over my beauties (my precious

P.S. I am pretty sure the ich came from the LFS I purchased the cichlids from, as the tank I got the male from had ich when I stopped in yesterday. They had the entire connecting unit marked as not for sale because it shares the water with the cichlid with the ich. Eeesh :/ I am not blaming, it happens, but I am concerned about my fish. Thanks again for your time

ColinParticipantbest thing i ever did regards ich is to get one of these… http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fish-R-Fun-Internal-…#ht_2051wt_1165
It catches and kills the ich in its free swimming state and no need to add any treatments. I do add salt if its a bad case. The UV just gets taken back out once the ich has gone.

Well that’s wicked awesome. Does it only steralize the ich or does it get rid of other things? Any concerns towards the beneficial microorganisms, which should primarily live in the filter and the substrate (if I am not mistaken) but you never know

WaterRavenMemberChecked the tank this morning, it appears the white spots have dwindled down with the temperature rise, but only time will tell. Hopefully this isn’t a fake out with an explosion this afternoon D: I know it has different stages of its life cycle and the spots or only one. So, we’ll see. If I don’t notice more improvment this afternoon/tomorrow, I’ll go purchase another heater and/or that fabulous device Colin posted.
Only my rummies seem to be affected so far and none of my other fish have broken out, thankfully, ad the spots are now fewer than they were yesterday.

WaterRavenMemberIch spots all cleared up this afternoon. It appears 88 degrees was close enough to 90 to get the results I was hoping for
