andy rushworthParticipantHi Matt, thanks for the help !
My fish looked exactly like the one in the pic ,I suppose the burning question has to be ,is the one in the pic Annandalei ? I say this because there are one or two identification errors in this book !
Charles would you agree that the fish in the pic is different to your fishes ?
Too me the fish in pic looks longer and has different head markings ?
The Peacock tag would suit your fish as the caudal of your fish does resemble a Peacocks feather

torsoParticipantthanks Matt
yes Andy I agree. “my” annandalei are much more likely annandalei and correspond with the pictures on petfrd.com. but your’s would be a different species.
just one more question: your specimen had the same colour? two populations of the same species …?
for the markings another pictureFebruary 3, 2010 at 10:55 pm #316529
MattKeymasterI’ve no idea how reliable a factor it is but to me the caudal patterning in the Tekriwal and Rao fish looks closer to berdmorei or guntea according to the key above however the rest of it doesn’t resemble either of those right?

andy rushworthParticipantHi Matt , not too big 5 cms tops !
I’d agree that the fish I had were quite different to Guntea ,probably more Thermalis like in appearance ,and not as flexible as some of the larger Leps !
I’m pretty sure it was from India ,as would be the fish in the book !
How many did you get of your fish Charles ?

three I think. they hide in the depth of the tank in the lowest range near the bottom.February 4, 2010 at 6:26 pm #316540

right the pictures Thomas was talking about.
for yours: that’s a good question. all in all it seems to me quite different.
about the markings of the tail fin. I know it’s just tryingFebruary 13, 2010 at 8:52 pm #316722
ThomasParticipantToday I get five of them, and found also between the ~200 Loaches two Lepidocephalichthys cf. manipurensis and one savona loach.
Few pics:
Two annandalei:
A darker annandalei:
This could be L. manipurensis (colors fade away) or “only” thermalis?

andy rushworthParticipantGreat pics Thomas !
These really are a nice looking loach ,are you going to do a video of them

ThomasParticipantThanks Andy, from the annandalei sure, the cf. mani. are at the time quite immobile. Video or pic will be the same…

andy rushworthParticipantThomas I’ve followed a lot of your threads/messages and think you have great taste in fish !
How many tanks do you keep ,and do you tend to keep mainly species tanks ?
February 13, 2010 at 10:33 pm #316727
ThomasParticipantAt the Moment 7, all are “Community tanks” – small cobitis with Homaloptera smithi, bigger Cobitis with Crossostoma, Lepidocephalichthys thermalis with pangio and so on… This loaches: https://www.seriouslyfish.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2162 are in a species Tank and maybe they stay in. The feeding is not so easy…
