He’s definitely a filter feeder though too. He is going around the tank constantly shifting sand through his gills. He’s not camera shy at all. Pic and grainy movie attached.

    Any Ideas about this Loach?

Found it in “Ornamental Aquarium Fish Of India” – Tekriwal and Rao. Somewhere in the net I’ve seen a photo of this loach. I guess it was an indian aquarist on Loaches Online, but can’t find it quickly.

    Cheers,

That is more like a guntea type. Most have squared caudals but in Menon there is one with a rounded caudal.

Its foraging behaviour reminds me of the Acanthopsoides I have. Cute!

It’s looking much healthier now, though it has kept the same length. When the tail is opened up it looks more lunate than forked, but when it is closed you can see the notch.

    Thanks Matt

Not really. It doesn’t burrow. Just sifts around the sand. Not very shy at all. Quite a cute fish. Please add one of these to the profile.

    Cheers

PS – did you add the Danio jaintianensis pic to the profile?
