Aphanius apodus male:
Aphanius danfordii ‘Kırşehir’ male:
Aphanius persicus ‘Lake Maharlu’ male:
Aphanius persicus ‘Lake Maharlu’ female:
Aphanius saourensis male:
Aphanius sirhani male:
Aphanius sirhani female:
Aphanius transgrediens male:
Aphanius vladykovi male:
Cyprinodon alvarezi male:
Cyprinodon alvarezi female:
Pete took a nice group of young A. persicus back to Bolton and I got two pairs of A. villwocki ‘Pınarbaşı’ (the type locality of this species). Wil post some pics soon. Thanks again to Manuel, and later Juan Pablo, for being such great hosts and to Manuel for putting up with us as we tried to collect fishes in a municipal park.

ricefishParticipantHi Matt
the Vladykovi male seems more gold than the silver is this it’s true to life colour or just the photo?
is it the same as the fish in the UK at the moment?
thanks NigelApril 20, 2010 at 11:17 am #317537
mzapaterParticipantHi Nigel.
Our fish are kept outdoors for the whole year, they show more intense colour than the same fish kept indoors.
Both apodus and vladykovy become really golden yellow when breeding.
This one still doesn´t have full colour on the fins.
The vladykovy strain is “Boldaji”, I believe it´s the only one kept in captivity.
Best regards,
Manuel…

MattKeymasterAll Manuel’s male A. vladykovi that I’ve seen show that golden colour – definitely not an artefact of photography!
