    Hatching started… I think these are the first pictures of P. ocellatus larvae!

    Note that there are lots of eggs which don’t look like they are ready for hatching! Maybe more than one single spawning?

    In the afternonn the pair spawned again. As I assumed the nest is much smaller and the first, bigger nest may result from several rounds (there are already hatched larvae and eggs that are much younger). Further, no courting, actually nothing that would have indicated that two fish are spwaning…

     

    @Stefan: this time I will leave it where it is… let’s see how this works.

     

    Sorry for the bad quality, but this is really in the darkest corner of the tank!

    Since yesterday all are swimming below the water surface and are taking paramecium (which are, however, well-established in the tank). So, I will be on vacation for two weeks now (goodby burning Germany, hello burning USA). A friend of mine will take care. Let’s see how this works… feeding paramecium every two days should do it.

    Hey,

    no, sorry. All died.

    Just back from the second of in total three trips in a row (away to Brazil for two weeks now). We have to reschedule this thingy to end of october.
