Per chance does anyone know anything about this fish?

There is a recent writeup on it here… don’t try to read it, but the photo shows a really nice looking critter http://photocdn.sohu.com/20130926/Img387301802.jpg… so I wonder just what this thing is… how large does it get, in particular? (no info I could find, and fishbase does not state the size).

Unlikely one can find it… but it is so pretty… :(

Apparently it’s a member of a group known as ‘schizothoracines’ or ‘mountain carps’. All of them are native to the¬†Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and specialised to high altitudes. Not much info about but found a couple of papers here and here.

Thanks, Matt, nice genetic data in your links.

While I could not find anything about the size of this species, it seems that other genus members are quite large (25-50cm)…. darn :(
