FerrikaParticipantIt is very difficult with Rhinogobius, known as the “brunneus” Jim. Often there are R. gigas or R. formosanus or R. candidanus. Do you have a picture?
The large gobies from brunneus complex in any case have usually very small, free-swimming larvae. Otherwise they are very easy to care, quite rough but otherwise beautiful and most other fish to very peaceful.
However, I find it difficult to keep it just for two. In fact they belong to a group of at least 5-6 animals.

PlaamooParticipantDidn’t have my camera Jutta. They looked something like this, but no orange, and the powder blue covered the dorsal. These were smallish, maybe 2.5 inches at most, but appeared to be mature. The dorsals were long and curved back.
I also found this interesting link in my search for info. This is in my state, though quite a bit South.

FerrikaParticipantJim, the goby in the pic is an R. gigas. And the one in the pdf is more a R. candidianus than a R. brunneus.
It is very, very difficult.
Do you know this site? http://www17.tok2.com/home2/tarogoby/zukan/zukan_tope.html

PlaamooParticipantThanks Jutta. I have been to that site but forgot about it. I don’t read Japanese :).
Looks like this one:

I’m trying to find room for a few but the shop only had 2 males. I think they come from the same distributor that I listed before so females may be available. Not likely, but if I get them I’ll post pics.

FerrikaParticipantYes, that’s one of those who are called brunneus. There are so many species which one can not map correctly.
I keep my fingers crossed that you get yet females. But this kind will also have very small larvae.

mikevParticipantWetspot lists them right now,
Mandarin Goby “Jinan”, Rhinogobius brunneus , , 1.5″, $25.00,
Perhaps worth giving Anthony a call?

PlaamooParticipantI’m pretty sure that’s where they came from Mike. They were labeled as Mandarin goby, r. brunneus. I just can’t figure out where to put them!
