i have been informed that Ivan Dibble, one of the worlds formost specialists and conservationists of livebearers was found dead at his home on christmas day.
i knew Ivan, not well, but had the privelage of speaking to him several times and his knowledge of livebearers was unsurpassed in my opinion.
it is indeed a sad day for fishkeeping.
    RIP Ivan

I have just read up on Ivan’s activities, an amazing guy, a great loss.

I also found that a Lady that I thought was only a cichlid expert is also involved with livebearers. I can now contact her about the doubts concerning our livebearers.

    Hey

Both through Ivan’s work, with Arthur Frisby, on the ‘Mexico Fish Ark’ project and in the days when I helped with the paper magazine (which I Edited at one point) for Derek Lambert’s Viviparous group I got to know the ‘Goodeid man’.

Ivan had a great passion for livebearers and (with the support of a small group of people and Aquarian fish foods) he helped to lay the foundation stones for proper research and conservation of the unique fish fauna of Mexico.

As Keith says ‘his knowledge of livebearers was unsurpassed’.

    Regards David

A very sad day for fishkeeping and livebearers in particular, I was lucky enough to know Ivan for many years and had a really long chat with him last year at the Catfish convention, he was indeed a man whos knowledge of livebearers was unsurpassed but he was also a very humble guy as well.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time

That´s terrible news I´ve read a lot about Ivan´s work with the Fish Ark and Aqualab projects.
