Only four of the Thorichthys species are found in Guatemala. T. affinis, T. aureus, T. meeki and T. pasionis. T. aureus is a cichlid from Lake Isabal our largest lake in the SE of the country. The others should be found in the Peten, Lakes or rivers. The only Thorichthys normally found in UK aquariums is the Firemouth, T. meeki. Any others found would be an expensive discovery. With constant tank breeding the Firemouth has probably lost a lot of its fire.
