While I was researching how to cure a columnaris infection on my live bearers, I came across an article posted by a hobbyist listing, among other medications, aspirin as a medication to treat stress on fish. Now, as much as I am skeptical about the use of aspirin due to the side effects that include renal failure, I became curious as to the validity behind the post.

Has anyone come across this article and more importantly, has anyone applied an aspirin therapy on their fish (as far as I recall, the article proposed a short bath in aspirin containing aquarium water in a separate container)?

Sounds like madness to me. At least one negative effect is reported here.

    Madness +1

(Despite my general sense that aspirin is a underappreciated med … for mammals)
