Hi having move numerous tanks myself i know how hard it is – but basically good organisation is the answer – so are you sitting comfortably /smile.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”:)” border=”0″ alt=”smile.gif” /> . Now syphon off the last off the water and clean the gravel as much as pos – this water is going to waste. Now remove the heater, internal filters etc. Then remove some off the substrate – preferably all of it{glass tanks are not designed to be moved with anything inside}.
Now move the empty tank to its new location, replace the gravel, put in filters, heaters etc but do not turn on!!carefully put some of the saved tank water in – to a depth of several inches, now replace the interior decor, now top up with remaining ‘saved’ water and if need be use some fresh dechlorinated water – this needs to be high enough so that all the filters heaters can be turned on safely. Have another cup of tea whilst observing the tank to see if its set up ok.Now re – aclimatise the fish as usual. now top the tank up with fresh dechlorinated water.Place the lid back on and let everything settle – do not feed and if pos just check the water paremters.Feed lightly for a few days and just keep an eye on them /thumbs_up.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”” border=”0″ alt=”thumbs_up.gif” />

Hi i have exactly the same filter and never had any probs{yet!}my guess is that the seal ring round the top is either got some kind of grit on or is slightly perished? but a baffling problem all the same? After all if it was the seal ring surely it would leak the whole time?????
If i was you i would try Eheim again and try and talk to some on the phone rather than e- mailing?
    Good luck

    Hi well said /biggrin.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”:D” border=”0″ alt=”biggrin.gif” />
But a question – with many bread and butter fish being bred commercialy they have never seen there ‘real’ homes? Just a thought.

    Hi i love cats too /angry.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”” border=”0″ alt=”angry.gif” />
Best cat i have kept is a tiger shovel nose, which grew and grew until it had to be rehomed and yep i agree certain fish should not be available to the general public! He grew to 30 inches in a six foot tank – awsum fish – but a pityfull sight in such a ‘small’ tank /wub.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”” border=”0″ alt=”wub.gif” />

Hi i think biotopes are great, but just how realistic can it be in all honesty? The amazon is a HUGE river with some very diverse area’s,hence why its so popular i guess!! So unless you are lucky enough to do as Heiko bleher and actually visit the area then we can only make educated guess’s?
Good luck and be great to see some photo’s no matter how poor!

Hi i have two retic rays{originally had four hence my username /ohmy.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”:o” border=”0″ alt=”ohmy.gif” /> They are all males! As to your question dunc about what happened to that ray,it looks like ‘bite’ marks to me as that looks very similar to what mine had, hence why i had to rehome the poor fella! If not treated quickly can lead to death, but with the right treatment and good water they will heal surprisingly quickly!!
    Hi Stinger some amazing rays there /biggrin.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”:D” border=”0″ alt=”biggrin.gif” />
