Really nice Marion! How does it differ from D. martensii?

    Thank you very much !

The biggest difference is the body size : D. martensii = 10 cm and D. deokhatoides = nearly 18 cm.

Another difference is the number and size of the eggs : D. martensii = 10 – 15 large eggs / D. deokhatoides = up to 30 eggs.

    Greetings !

What do you feed the adults with? I recently bought four Enneacampus ansorgi but unfortunately they were in such a bad state that none of them survived but I´ll give them a go some time again in the future. They relished glass worms and daphnia for the time they lived however.

I feed black mosquito larvae, cyclops, artemia, small daphnia.

For Enneacampus ansorgii you should try : small freshwater shrimp, artemia, cyclops and white mosquito larvae.
It is better to keep them with no other fish, they eat very slowly. And they like a slight addition of salt – a teaspoon of salt per 10 liters of water.
They should be kept in groups of 10, they are very social.

Thanks for that marion. How often do you feed them. I keep hearing that you have to feed them constantly all day long

    Hi Lloyd,

I feed the adult pipefish 2 times per day, and the offspring 4 times. It’s not difficult, the newly hatched pipefish eat immediately artemia nauplii.

    Hi Lloyd,

I keep and breed D. martensii successfully.
Here are two pics for comparison :

    Female :

    Male :

My biggest male is about 12 cm, the females are slightly smaller. ( 10 – 11 cm)
    Some information about the tank:
    – ) Best temperature is 23 – 24 ° C
    – ) Without the addition of salt
    – ) Regularly clean fresh water ( every week 20%)

The size of the tank… for one pair ?
    I think 60 liters.

    Best regards,
    Marion
