Chemical process whereby an atom or ion loses electrons and undergoes a subsequent increase in valence; the combination of a substance with oxygen; the act or result of being oxidised. Opposite of reduction.

  • chemical filtration

Water filtration method by which dissolved chemicals are removed via use of synthetic adsorbents, ion exchangers, insoluble oxides, zeolite, or activated carbon, these usually being placed within the filter unit or sump.

  • decomposition
