Pethia tiantian
Kullander & Fang, 2005
Max length50mm SL2.0in SLTank75 × 30cm30 × 12inTemp15–25°C59–77°FpH6.5–7.5Known only from the remote, mountainous area of Putao in Kachin state, northern Myanmar. The holotype and most of the type series was collected from the Nan Hto Chaung (Nan Hto stream) with the Mali Hka River representing the only other locality known. Both are part of the upper Irrawaddy/Ayeyarwady system. The Nan Hto Chaung flows through forested hills and...

Rasbora dusonensis
Bleeker, 1850
Max length162mm SL6in SLTank120 × 30cm48 × 12inTemp20–26°C68–79°FpH4.0–7.5The identity of this species was unclear for a number of decades prior to its redescription by Ng and Kottelat (2013). The confusion originated with Brittan (1954) who misidentified specimens of R. tornieri as R. dusonensis and was exacerbated by Alfred (1963) who concluded that the holotype of R. dusonensis was conspecific with R. myersi.

Schistura maepaiensis
Kottelat, 1990
Max length45mm SL1.8in SLTank80 × 30cm31 × 12inTemp20–26°C68–79°FpH6.0–7.5The type locality originally consisted of a shallow (0.5 - 1.5 m deep) stream with a substrate of rocks and boulders and flow varying from 'moderate to swift'. When the holotype was collected there in 1980 sympatric species included Acanthocobitis zonalternans, Puntius orphoides, Pethia ticto, Raiamas guttatus, Barilius barnoides, Mystacoleucus argenteus and Mastacembelus armatus plus unidentified members of Crossocheilus an...

Thayeria ifatiHalf-striped Penguin Tetra
authority not recorded
Max length50mm SL2.0in SLTank60 × 38cm24 × 15inTemp23–28°C73–82°FpHnot recordedThere are only three species in the genus Thayeria, of which T. ifati is the least often seen in the hobby. This is a shame as it's a very pretty little fish. The holotype was collected from the upper Rio Maroni, close to the settlement of Gaa Kabaon on the French Guiana/Suriname border by the famous ichthyologist Jacques Géry in 1957. Géry also described the species in 1959. Of its congeners, it was the type species T. obliqua that was originally given the common name of &quo...
