The Malawi blue dolphin, Cyrtocara moorii, is a large, peaceful cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi, found mainly over shallow sandy areas. Formerly named Haplochromis moorii, it shoals in nature and follows substrate-sifting species such as Fossorochromis rostratus to feed on morsels stirred up from the sand. Males reach at least 25 cm, and it should not be kept with boisterous species such as mbuna.
