Eretmodus

The striped goby cichlid, Eretmodus cyanostictus, is one of the goby cichlids endemic to Lake Tanganyika, living in the surge zone of rocky shores. It scrapes algae from the rocks with specialised teeth and has a swim bladder rendered useless to reduce buoyancy. Delicate in aquaria, it needs the highest water quality, a higher pH than many Tanganyikans and a specialised diet, and is not recommended for beginners.
