Hasemania

The silvertip tetra, Hasemania nana, is a characid from the Rio São Francisco basin in Brazil. It inhabits creeks and tributaries away from the main river channels. Hasemania is one of the few characid genera whose members lack an adipose fin. All the fish in the trade are captive bred and unfussy about water chemistry and diet, and it is sometimes sold as the 'copper tetra'.
