The electric blue hap, Sciaenochromis fryeri, is a non-mbuna cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi, found along rocky shorelines and the sandy zones beyond. It was previously imported and classified as Sciaenochromis ahli, and is still named as such in much of the literature. Males of every morph are blue and differ only in the fins, and the morphs should not be mixed because they will hybridise. Highly piscivorous in nature, it should not be kept with mbuna.
