ICZN Code

conserved name
A scientific name that has specific nomenclatural protection under the ICZN code, specifically a name that is otherwise unavailable or invalid but has been made available as a valid name by removal of the obstacles blocking its use.
cotype
Term formerly used in zoological taxonomy and equivalent to the modern terms syntype and paratype but no longer valid according to the ICZN code.
excluded name
A name unavailable for purposes of zoological nomenclature under provision of the ICZN code or because of a disclaimer.
International Code of Zoological Nomenclature
