1. hydrophobic

   Lacking an affinity for water.

2. hydroponics

   Method of growing plants in the absence of soil and using a nutrient solution. The plants may be rooted directly into the solution or in an inert medium such as rockwool or gravel.

3. hyoid

   Of, relating to or being the hyoid bone.

4. hyoid arch

   Either of the second pair of pharyngeal or gill arches. Supports part of the tongue and the branchiostegal rays.

   Horseshoe-shaped bone that supports the tongue and associated structures.
