Pungu

Pungu maclareni is a maternally mouthbrooding cichlid endemic to Lake Barombi Mbo, a small volcanic crater lake in Cameroon. Enlarged jaw muscles and small teeth allow it to tear chunks from freshwater sponges, its characteristic diet. It is considered critically endangered because of its tiny range, habitat destruction, introduced species and overfishing, and is correspondingly rare in the hobby.
