L147 is an undescribed Ancistomus species, a suckermouth catfish from tributaries of the middle Río Orinoco in Venezuela and the lower Río Meta in Colombia. Some reports suggest it occurs further up the Meta system, around Villavicencio, some 600 km upriver. It spawns in caves with the male responsible for brood care, and has been bred regularly in aquaria.
Etymology
Ancistomus: a combination of the generic names Ancistrus and Hypostomus, reflecting the genus's similarities to both.
Distribution
Known with certainty from tributaries of the middle Río Orinoco between the city of Puerto Ayacucho, Amazonas state, Venezuela and the lower Río Meta, Colombia.
It may have a wider distribution within the Meta system since some reports suggest it to occur around Villavicencio, Colombia, some 600 km upriver.
Aquarium size
An aquarium with base dimensions of 120 ∗ 45 cm48 ∗ 18 in should be the smallest considered.

Sexual dimorphism
Adult males develop a series of small odontodes on the leading pectoral-fin rays and rear portion of the body while females do not.
Males are also more slender and less stocky than females, a difference which is easily observed when the fish are viewed from above.
Reproduction
Cave-spawner with the male responsible for brood care. Has been bred regularly in aquaria.
